Appenship is a global acting shipping company that was founded in 1968 by the shipbroker Detlef von Appen. The company expanded rapidly and in the early 1980s Appenship started an independent conventional liner service from Europe to Far East with time chartered 40,000 tdw conbulkers. As per requirement of the trades regular services were offered to South-East Asia and China with up to 80 sailings per year with up to 2 million tons of cargo consisting of fertilizer, steel products and general / project cargo.

Today Appenship liner service is offering the European export industry a monthly service from European ports to South-East Asia: Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia and Far East destinations. On inducement basis services from Asia to Europe are offered. Another service has been established between St. Petersburg and South-America. Other activities are the operation of 4 coaster vessels with a capacity of 3,700 ts each in the European short-sea trade. Furthermore Appenship is acting as exclusive broker and logistics partner for leading European Fertilizer producer and trader.
