A well proven ship finance alternative

Over the past 20 years in Germany, the funding of ships by private investors has been a remarkable success story. The German shipping market – possessing the world’s largest feeder vessel fleet as well as one of the world’s largest container ship fleets – is characterised by the KG Market. Within the last decade, German KG arrangers (issuing companies) were responsible for structuring and collecting private equity in the amount of not less than EUR 18.9 bn and an total investment volume of abt. EUR 46.9 bn for ship funds. In 2007 ship funds with a total equity volume of abt. EUR 3 bn and an investment volume of abt. EUR 7.1 bn have been raised.
